In 2013, Illinois Baptists began a North America Missions focus/partnership with Native American Ministries. We have contact information to help IBSA churches engage Native American Ministries around the country. Our initial target area will be Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Native Americans are one of the most unreached people groups in North America. Randy Carruth and "I Am Able Ministries" have been a resource to Illinois and other state conventions in effectively engaging this people group.
In Minnesota, we are connecting with a former NAMB missionary, who is also a national mediator for Native American groups. Mission trip opportunities include a variety of different activities with Native American groups in Minnesota.
In Wisconsin, we will be working with Dennis Hansen, Director of Missions for the Bay Lake Baptist Association. There is one Native American Church on the Lac du Flambeau Reservation in northern Wisconsin and Bill Earl is now serving as their pastor. There are several other Indian Reservations in Wisconsin and ministry doors are beginning to open in other locations.
In addition to Wisconsin and Minnesota, our IBSA Missions Team can be a resource to you in finding mission opportunities with Native American churches and ministries in other states such as Oklahoma, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas and other locations.
Illinois churches who would like to consider a Native American Mission Partnership can contact RexAlexander@IBSA.org or (217) 391-3134.
