3-Sunday Plan: With the Week of Prayer as the Main Focus
Sunday 1 (Sept. 8):  Called to Give
  • Hang the posters in prominent locations in your building.
  • Download the bulletin announcements from www.IBSA.org/mio. Cut and paste one announcement into your church bulletin or newsletter each week.
  • Encourage worship attenders to sign up for the e-mail devotions at the address on the video: www.IBSA.org/pray4illinois
  • Post the “Pray & Give” promo video on your church’s website.
  • In worship, show the video Churches Together: Nate Adams” or share the information from the pull-out published in the August 26 Illinois Baptist newspaper (coming soon).
  • Announce your church’s goal.
  • Ask a missions leader to lead prayer in the worship service: Pray for more churches to join the Mission Illinois Offering & Week of Prayer.

Sunday 2 (Sept. 15): Called to Pray

  • Distribute the Mission Illinois Prayer Guide/bulletin insert.
    • Encourage worship attenders to pray every day this week.
    • Encourage them to sign up for daily e-mail devotions. The address is at the top back side of the Prayer Guide. www.IBSA.org/pray4illinois
  • Share about the need in our large cities. Choose one of the following:
  • From the Prayer Guide, point out significant facts about the lostness of people in Illinois.
    • Pray for the salvation of lost people in Illinois, and for the new church plants trying to reach people in cities and troubled communities.
    • Pray for church planters such as Ken and Kathy Schultz in Plainfield and Barnicio Cureton in East St. Louis.
  • Distribute the Mission Illinois Offering envelopes. Remind givers that all gifts stay here in Illinois, for missions in Illinois.
  • Collect the offering.

Sunday 3 (Sept. 22): Called to Go

  • Announce your church’s progress toward your offering goal. Update the thermometer poster/progress chart.
  • Share how the Mission Illinois Offering helps Baptists from Illinois go where the Gospel is needed. Choose one of the following:
    • Show the video “Share Christ: Meredith Flynn” about mission trips and share personal stories from church members about mission trips. 
    • Or show the video “Help Others: Jan Kragness” about Disaster Relief. If anyone has DR experience, ask them to share.
    • Or share the information from the pull-out section published in the August 26 Illinois Baptist newspaper. (We will link here as soon as it’s ready).
  • Pray for Illinois missionaries, including Disaster Relief teams, and the 25,000+ Baptists from Illinois who are engaged in missions here and on short-term mission trips.
  • Distribute the Mission Illinois Offering envelopes. Remind givers that all gifts stay here in Illinois, for missions in Illinois.
  • Collect the offering.
