GoTeams International 2017 Projects

GoTeams International projects are designed to help IBSA churches provide an international project that is designed to ignite the missional fire of each participant. Churches with students who have completed 9th grade and up can participate by adopting a project as their own. Projects with high school students require one adult for every 5 people going on the team.

Individual high school and college age students from IBSA churches can also apply to be a part of a GoTeams international project. Please note that some projects are created for participants who are at least 18 years old, have graduated from high school and have completed their freshman year of college (or at least one year of work experience).

If your Church wants to adopt a project, please contact the GoTeams International Director directly:  Dwayne Doyle, 217-391-3134 or DwayneDoyle@IBSA.org.

GoTeam Toronto, Canada July 1-8

Toronto is the most diverse city in the world.  A city that comes with its own set of challenges, but that also makes it unique. On every street you will find many cultures represented. Persons from India, the Middle East, Japan, France, Denmark, Canada, and even a few Americans can be seen when you look around. With the wide range of cultures, comes an even more wide range of religious differences. You will see an abundance of Muslims, Hindus, Tibetans, and Catholics, but very few evangelicals. Of the 2.4 million people that live in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) an estimated 2.3 million of them are lost in their religion and separated from a relationship with Jesus Christ.

In previous summer projects, Saline Baptist Association has partnered with Rendezvous Church in Toronto and church planter Scott Rourke, to put on a week long day camp for the kids in the city. IBSA, under the leadership of Ryan Beck, is partnering with the church planter Scott Rourk for the 2017 project. We are building a team to lead a soccer ministry in the morning and Vacation Bible School in the afternoon. We are looking for volunteers who not only have skills in soccer or a desire to lead in VBS, but who also desire to work among many different cultures.

Applicants must be high school students who have completed 8th grade. Adult and college age participants are welcome to join this project as well. All applicants must have a valid US passport in hand by February 1, 2017.

GoTeam Haitian Peoples of the Dominican Republic – July 22-29

In the years since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, many Haitians have been displaced in the Dominican Republic. In 2017, IBSA is partnering with team leader Keith Halsey to lead a group of volunteers to work alongside Haitian believers and Dominican national believers who have a heart for seeing Haitians come to know Jesus as savior. Working with a culture (Haitians) within a culture (the Dominican) presents unique challenges. Team members will have the opportunity to model the Love of Christ that crosses every culture as they working on strategic projects with national leaders.

We are looking for students who are flexible and willing to work hard each day in the heat of the summer. We need strong student leaders to participate who are willing to invest themselves in the lives of the Haitian people.

Applicants must be high school students who are 16 years old and completed 10th grade. Adult and college age participants are welcome to join this project as well. All applicants must have a valid US passport in hand by February 1, 2017.

IBSA will once again be sending Scott Slone to lead a GoTeam to Jamaica. This team will serve with and through local churches throughout Jamaica. They will be leading multiple outreach opportunities, similar to Vacation Bible School in multiple different church locations serving approximately 300 children. The team will be lodging and eating meals together in a local guest house. They will also participate in local church services on Sunday.

This mission trip is designed for students who enjoy working with children. The students will need to be flexible and be able to be led in a team atmosphere.
