The CAC thrives on its robust volunteer program. We welcome individuals and groups for short and long-term service. Whether tutoring kids once a month or organizing a weekly running program, volunteers’ interaction with children is crucial to the CAC providing holistic growth and nurturing opportunities to families in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Throughout its history, Uptown Baptist Church has been known as one of the most active and giving churches in the city of Chicago – being recognized by various public officials, including former Chicago Mayor Daley. UBC’s community involvement is one of our most defining features as a church. As senior pastor Michael Allen says, “It’s always been a part of the church’s DNA.” Outreach takes on a variety of forms, times, and places, so mission opportunities are varied. Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services is a Christ-centered agency that exists to care for children and families who are in crisis. We give refuge to children, provide a haven for young, single mothers-to-be as they struggle to come to terms with an impending childbirth and provide guidance to troubled couples.
