Camp Lifeguards
Lifeguard Information
- Camp Lifeguard is a part time seasonal position
- Lifeguards typically work in the afternoon and are scheduled a month in advance
- Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of all swimmers at our camp lake
- Lifeguards will maintain safety by keeping track of swimmers that enter the water
- They will go over the lake rules with all swimmers at the start of each group
- They will assist swimmers in a swim test before campers can go to the deep end
- They will assist in any first aid needs that might arise at the lake
- and they will assist in any rescues that may occur.
- Starting wage is $15-$20 and hour depending on past experience.
Lifeguards work in teams of 2 with one lifeguard being designated as a lead lifeguard for the shift. One lifeguard will be on the beach and the other will be in the water on a board. They will take turns and switch between being in the water and on the beach. Lifeguards are not responsible for the boats or boat areas unless they see someone getting to close to the swimming area, or if they see someone who is drowning and needs assistance. Lifeguards key responsibility is to keep those swimming safe.
Requirements
- Must have a Lifeguard License
- Must be kind and welcoming to campers
- Must be able to pay attention to swimmers while on duty
- Must be able to pass a background check (Lifeguards under the age of 18 are not required to take a background check)
- Must be able to complete child safe training (This is provided by the camp on the first day of work)
